Navigating a cancer diagnosis, treatment and symptoms is not easy. Cancer companion equips customers to do so with control, confidence and care.

We’re working in partnership with Osara Health and Teladoc Health to bring this support to our customers.

Comprised of 3 components, Cancer companion complements existing treatment plans through a holistic, evidence-based approach1, giving customers options to formulate a lifestyle response through health coaching and education, access to world-leading cancer specialists for a second medical opinion and be supported through one-on-one counselling.

Meet Vaughan.

Last year, Vaughan was rushed to hospital with a bladder infection which turned out to be stage-4 cancer. His wife Leigh had also recently been diagnosed with throat lymphoma for the 2nd time. It was a hard year for them both. 

Having an eligible inforce trauma cover gave them access to Cancer companion and the right support when they needed it most.

3 ways to empower customers.

Cancer Coach helps customers take control of their health and lifestyle response, offering support via a dedicated Osara Health Coach, plus a range of educational resources and techniques that are personalised to them. 

Second Medical Opinion gives customers confidence by connecting them to a global network of world-leading cancer specialists.  

Mental Health Support gives care and attention to customers’ wellbeing with one-on-one therapy sessions.

How can customers access Cancer companion?

 If you have any questions , reach out to your Business manager in the first instance.


STEP 1. Either you or the customer can contact our claims team on 0800 88 22 88 or email our Claims team (claims@fidelitylife.co.nz) to log the customer’s cancer diagnosis with us.

STEP 2. The claims team will send an email with an online enrolment link to be completed. If you are contacting us on behalf of the customer, it is important that you forward that email onto the customer, so they can fill in their contact details and agree to the privacy terms and conditions.

STEP 3. The customer’s name and contact information will then be shared with Osara Health. Should the customer wish to access the Teladoc Health services, Osara Health will share the customer’s information with them.

STEP 4. Osara Health will contact the customer at a time they choose, to discuss Cancer companion in more detail. The customer can decide what’s right for them and what services they want to participate in.
