Andrew Millar

FMG.

I was born in a small rural town in South Canterbury and moved to Christchurch when I was 4 years old and have lived for most of my life.  I have been in the industry for 13 years now, having watched my mum start and run a successful adviser company and seeing the value in what she did and the protection she provided to people.

I don’t see my role as providing insurance to people at all, I prefer to think that I provide advice and certainty to them.  I enjoy getting to understand people and their situations, understand what is important to them and what drives them every day and then work out a plan that will allow them to still achieve their dreams and goals, no matter what happens to them along the way.  Prior to being at FMG, I was an insurance broker where I learnt the important lessons around the power of strong relationships, the conviction of someone's word, and the significant role I play in protecting loved ones.

When I get away from the office, I have a beautiful family at home with my wife, Amanda, and my two children, Jack, who is 5 years old and Sadie, who is 14 months old and enjoy spending as much time with them all as possible.  I really enjoy my golf (don’t get out as much as I would like) and go to the gym most days for stress relief and some normality (although have to go stupidly early to make it work).
