Overview.
Many of you will remember Kirsten Leng from our previous Business Planning sessions. We’re thrilled to welcome her back for this special workshop, where she’ll guide you in reflecting on your 2024 business achievements and resetting your strategy for FY25.
In addition, we’re excited to have Matt Ensor joining us for a session focused on business efficiency. You’ll gain practical insights on leveraging AI and technology to streamline processes, tackle specific challenges, and integrate tools that free up time for what matters most.
We'll also have Steven Burgess along from the Compliance Refinery, who will work through strategies and tools that will allow you to efficiently manage compliance tasks, minimise administrative burden, and focus more on high-value client interactions.
This interactive workshop will help you refine your business plan, enhance efficiency, and set a strong foundation for the year ahead. To top it off, we’ll take time to celebrate your achievements in person and close the year on a high note.

Matt Ensor.
Matt’s commitment is to propel NZ towards competitive advantage by accelerating generative AI uptake. He's the chair of AI Forum NZ's working group on Large Language Models and founded Frankly AI (Auckland based start up under Beca, an early pioneer to AI). Frankly AI developed the first indigenous conversational AI for Pasifika and Aboriginal languages.
Matt frequently presents at meetings and conferences, tailoring each session to the specific needs of the group. No two sessions are the same, and he always incorporates live demonstrations of the latest AI technology to ensure the audience understands how to use it. A key aspect of Matt’s business involves researching new AI advancements, keeping him up to date with the latest technology.
Steven Burgess.
Steve is a longstanding compliance professional who's been employed at the FMA and the Canadian Securities Regulator, IIROC. He has experience working in at a large NZ financial services company as well as both big banks and boutique firms in Canada.
Through Steve’s career he has had oversight of over more than 100 adviser businesses. He has developed a deep appreciation for the adviser/client relationship, while maintaining focus on client outcomes.
Steve is director of the Compliance Refinery, who help helping clients reduce stress and increase their productivity. This make it easier for advisers to be in front of clients and not spending their time unproductively.
